U.S. © 2008 – Rev. Mark Alan Quick
People are seeking out practical advice and new vision that will enable them to recapture the joy and harmony they once dreamed of for their marriages, child-rearing, careers, and relationships in general. American society is riddled with divorce, frigid marriages, dysfunctional parent-to-teen relationships, workplace disharmony and political division. IMITATORS OF GOD will place in people’s hearts and minds the tools they need to repair the breeches in broken relationships. It will accomplish this by mining out God’s truths for healthy relationships found in Ephesians chapters five and six. Interwoven with those truths will be testimonies and anecdotes gleaned from the author’s 19 years of pastoral ministry and counseling, 16 years of marriage and child-rearing, and insights gained from secular management experience.
Suffering relationships can be rescued and become a source of joy, satisfaction and personal growth. This can occur when participants have unveiled for them the truth that every relationship is a God-ordained vehicle to learn and reflect God’s nature. When people are taught to view their relationships from God’s vantage point and are enlightened as to the value of reflecting God’s heart their relationships take on eternal value. Those same relationships become a source of earning eternal praise from God and for learning about their own strengths and weaknesses. God then enters these relationships and brings inner peace and joy to the one who imitates him. They will no longer view themselves as shackled to a miserable situation. They will find new hope and joy because when we learn to view relationships as God does we find new strength. When we are taught how we can reflect the heart of Christ we find new purpose and are empowered to grow.
IMITATORS OF GOD will identify specific areas we can target to turn all of our relationships around and derive eternal value from them. IMITATORS OF GOD will train the reader to consider how Jesus would interact with others sexually, morally, conversationally, emotionally, and in all manners pertaining to another’s physical rights. The portion of Scripture under consideration gives wives, husbands, parents, children, bosses and employees specific insight into how God views their relationships. It provides very specific instruction on how to make those relationships work.
IMITATORS OF GOD will build upon the relationship foundation found in Ephesians chapter five to six, but it will not stop there. It is important for people to see how the principles interplay in real world situations. And it is important for the flow of the book to be natural and conversational – so it will also be practical.
People need to know these truths so their experience in relationships can take on the joy and intimacy God desires. They also need to learn why their conduct in relationships is so significant to God. God’s kingdom will be a place where His principles will rule. God’s wrath is revealed against that which offends his holy nature. Having these truths explained and practically applied to their lives will serve as one more motivator for reflecting the heart of Christ in relationships. They will have the additional motivation of knowing that imitating God carries eternal value.
IMITATORS OF GOD will treat the subject of relationships in a unique manner that will set it apart from books currently on the market. It will lift readers to the vantage point of God. And it will give them a road map of practical steps they can take right now to turn their relationships around.
