Family
My wife, Angelica, and I have been married since 1993 and have four children - Alexa, Adriana, Ashlynn and Andrew. Like most families, life is busy. Alexa plays volleyball and is in the National Honor Society. Adriana plays volleyball, runs track, and is in the school choir. Ashlynn takes piano. Andrew is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and plays basketball. Between ministry, school work and activities, we stay running. Angelica has a master's degree in counseling, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and works full-time. We make our home in Richmond, Texas, just outside Houston.
Ministry
I currently serve as senior pastor of Cornerstone Assembly of God located in Sugar Land, Texas (www.cornerstonesugarland.com). I began in ministry in 1990 as a volunteer youth pastor. My staff experience at that church included youth ministry, outreach ministry, interim children's pastor, and assisting the senior pastor with pulpit ministry and pastoral care. We took our first pastorate in 1997. Because our first pastorate was a revitalization and our second, Cornerstone, began that way I was a bi-vocational pastor for nearly seven years. I'm full-time at Cornerstone now. We have 19 nationalities represented and I work with a staff of three other godly people.
Journalism
Journalism had been my college major prior to my rededication to Christ. As a result, six of those seven bi-vocational ministry years I worked in the newspaper industry, one as a staff writer and five as an editor. Next to pastoring, being an editor was very interesting work. I met and interviewed people ranging from U.S. Congressmen to on one occassion an elderly man with a humongous turnip! The paper I edited had a readership of nearly 80,000, so the work was interesting and rewarding.
Christian Life
I received Christ into my life at the age of eight, but through a series of hurtful church relationships my family stopped attending church when I was around ten. I rededicated my life to Christ at the age of 20 and began pursuing the ministry calling I had felt as a boy.
